The Vice President, Governmental Affairs must be a strategic thinker, with stature and professional credibility. The individual must be a highly visible, well-known and respected lobbyist. The right candidate must be capable of understanding and clearly communicating to internal and external stakeholders the political and substantive policy issues associated with federal insurance regulation, including, among other things, the Federal Reserve’s regulation of certain insurance companies, the designation of systemically important financial institutions (SIFIs) and other activities of the Financial Stability Oversight Council, policy implications associated with the development of capital standards by the Federal Reserve and International Association of Insurance Supervisors, and the activities of the Federal Insurance Office and Office of Financial Research.
