Provide in-house legal services to company and work with outside attorneys on matters referred to outside counsel, primarily in the area of environmental law. Provide legal services and expertise relating to complex environmental and other matters to the Companies, including: Advise on compliance with environmental regulations and permits affecting the Company's operations, including matters relating to air, water, hazardous waste and materials and non-hazardous waste and materials, noise, land use and oil spill prevention and control; Provide evaluation of complex legal issues and assessment of risk on matters related to environmental regulation, permitting and compliance with minimal oversight from supervisor; Advise Environmental Department, officers, managers and operating areas on new and proposed laws and regulations, legal trends, cases and policies pertaining to environmental and other matters; Work closely with the Environmental Department and operating areas to develop preventative law programs, including training to assist operational managers in the handling of their work in order to comply with environmental laws, regulations and permits and other legal issues; Assist in the development of Company policies, procedures and strategies, particularly as they affect compliance with environmental laws, regulations and permits, and other matters pertinent to the Companies.
