Counsel’s main function is to “read” abstracts, oversee reading and clearance issues and provide support to production employees by interpreting legal documents and underwriting policies to insure that transactions are closed in an efficient and legal manner. Secondary duties include assisting sales staff in client relations when necessary. Counsel must also assist the legal counsel group and senior leadership in special in-house projects as necessary. Review abstracts and interpret rule of law – Review recorded documents and chain of title for adequacy to insure.
