Company is currently seeking a highly skilled General Counsel. Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, this position serves as the Chief Legal Advisor to the company on all legal issues. Under the direction of the President and Chief Executive Officer, General Counsel researches, advises and makes recommendations to the President and CEO, Board of Trustees and Executive staff on all legal matters. Other primary responsibilities include: providing legal direction and advising on matters of legal strategy; engaging in a wide variety of complex legal work having significant financial or policy consequences over the entire spectrum of Library procurement, construction contracts, ethics issues, litigation, EEO and labor law, technology, intellectual property and real property matters; and overseeing a team that manages the workflow of legal matters, including responding to FOIL requests and appeals. Manages relationships and coordinates matters referred to outside counsel as needed.
