Responsibilities include developing an organization that evaluates legal risk, understands operational and business needs, and offers valuable advice and recommendations with pros and cons; managing and directing staff of attorneys to conduct themselves in accordance with the office’s service-oriented objectives; supporting administrative staff, faculty and other University personnel in the provision of legal services to all ten campuses and system offices; functioning as a working director engaged in the practice of law; providing sound legal advice and guidance in a responsive and timely manner; and managing legal resources and ensuring university practices, protocols and procedures support the mission and goals of the University. The Vice President serves as the President’s chief legal officer for the University reporting directly to the President with an advisory role to the Board of Regents. This position provides executive leadership in legal affairs and services to the Board of Regents, President, University officers and administrators, University programs and managers.
