The primary focus of this role is to serve as a managing attorney providing legal and regulatory advice and support to further business goals in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role currently supports two direct reports and is a member of a team that includes attorneys and other compliance specialists and analysts.

Responsibilities
Provide and manage the provision of legal and regulatory services to support corporate governance functions in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, to meet regulatory requirements and expectations, and to facilitate strategic goals.
Provide and manage the provision of legal and regulatory services to support business awareness of laws and regulations, and to support compliance with certain non-consumer compliance laws and regulations, to meet regulatory requirements and expectations and achieve favorable exam results.
Manage regulatory relationships, including preparation for, coordination and facilitation of regulatory exams, and supervisory visits and calls. Prepare and submit required regulatory filings. Coordinate, provide and/or submit responses to regulatory information requests and other communications with regulators as required.
Provide and manage the provision of contract drafting and negotiation, and contract administration; provide legal support for the vendor management function and related responsibilities to support achievement of the company’s goals .
Manage and support the Associate Counsel and the Corporate Governance and Regulatory Associate.

Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.)degree from an accredited law school
Current active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state (or Washington D.C.), and eligibility for Colorado license to practice law or Colorado "single client" license
A minimum of 7 years experience, including practicing law in a strong corporate ( in-house) legal department and/or practicing in a law firm with an emphasis in relevant areas of practice

Required Substantive Experience and Skills
Familiarity with laws and regulations related to consumer financial services, or a similar highly-regulated consumer industry
Proven ability to interpret and give practical business advice on the effects of laws and regulations
Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills; recent experience drafting and negotiating vendor agreements; experience interacting with contract administration and vendor management teams
Familiarity with corporate governance laws, regulations and principles; experience with corporate governance within the financial services industry preferred.
