The Corporate Legal Department has an opening for a Senior Counsel. This position will be located in Pleasanton, California.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•Advising management on pharmacy and healthcare law compliance and issues
•Developing and delivering training programs
•Advising management regarding federal HIPAA and state medical information privacy compliance, issues and claims
•Reviewing health care marketing programs for legal compliance
•Acting as a resource for healthcare compliance issues and programs
•Reviewing and drafting contracts
•Proving legal advice for business transactions
•Representing Safeway in dealings with government agencies, claimants’ attorneys and community groups on issues within subject matter areas of responsibility.

Qualifications:
•Law Degree, required.
•California Bar Membership strongly preferred.
•8+ years’ law firm and/or in-house law department experience, with emphasis on pharmacy and healthcare law and HIPAA.
•Computer literate.
•Excellent problem solving skills.
•Superior oral and written communication skills.
