Job Summary

This VP level position will assist the General Counsel in all functions of the Legal Department but will focus primarily on the Pharmacy Benefits Management and Medicaid Pharmacy benefits Administration businesses and focused on developing and negotiating managed care service contracts, rebate management contracts, pharmacy distribution agreements, manufacturer agreements and services agreements for the company’s general and specialty pharmacy businesses,and distribution and consulting services lines of business. This position also is responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to corporate officers, managers and employees of the company. This incumbent of this position will advise on contracts, regulatory issues, risk management, corporate transactions and general corporate work.
Essential Functions
Develop and negotiate managed care service contracts, rebate management contracts, pharmacy distribution agreements and services agreements for the company’s general and specialty pharmacy benefits management businesses, distribution and consulting services lines of business
Develop responses to the legal portion of requests for proposals and other formal procurement documents
Solve complex regulatory issues, particularly as they relate to the structure of the company’s contracts with customers. Assist in the development and implementation of overall company licensing and regulatory strategy. Represent the company before state and federal regulators and other constituencies such as provider associations
Advise the management and employees on matters relating to the legal and regulatory aspect of the business of the company
Advise and represent the company in any contract or other disputes with customers and vendors
Represent the company in connection with corporate transactions, and develop partnership and other joint venture arrangements
Management of various healthcare legal issues involving the company

Education: JD
Field(s) of study: Law
Experience: 8+ years
Industry: Legal
Job Specific: Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience required.

Excellent written and oral communications/advocacy skills, ability to work independently, ability to fashion practical business solutions to complex legal situations, negotiation skills

Licenses, Certifications, etc.: Admission to the Bar
Preferred Qualifications

Education: At least 10 years of experience in the Managed Health Care Industry
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Possess knowledge of the health care industry and regulatory environment, including specific knowledge of and experience with the policies and procedures of regulatory agencies in the states in which the company conducts business. Knowledge of the company’s policies and procedures. Strong written and verbal communication skills and problem solving skills and abilities. Prior experience as senior attorney for a public health insurance or managed care company. General knowledge of and experience with a variety of corporate healthcare transactions.
