Job Description: At CNO, our legal professionals provide business and legal counsel to teams across the organization to achieve positive business results. This role is responsible for providing legal counsel and compliance guidance to enterprise-wide product development and new business functions. In addition, the role provides thought leadership related to e-commerce and its application to customer and agent interactions. Working closely with the Privacy Officer, as well as field and operations compliance teams, the Associate General Counsel ensures compliant and risk appropriate action.

Key Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Provide legal and compliance counsel and support regarding new product development and new product advertising, as well as activities that support product management. Collaborate with and advise corporate officers and senior leaders in the field, new business and operations functions.

• Provide legal and compliance counsel and support to new business and underwriting functions. Collaborate with and advise corporate officers and senior leaders in the field, new business and operations functions.

• Provide legal and compliance counsel to corporate officers and senior leaders in the field, new business, and operations functions with regard to the development and administration of electronic commerce, including:
o Voice Signatures
o Digital signatures and non-face to face sales
o Electronic application, enrollment and customer service transactions
o Mobile technology supporting field and customer
o CAN-SPAM
o Federal and State Do Not Call Compliance

• Provide compliance oversight, support and counsel on specific risks and strategic corporate initiatives of both short-term and long-term (multi-year) durations relating to product and e- commerce technology. Levels of risk may exceed $1MM.

• Collaborate with Corporate Compliance, Privacy, Operations and Field Compliance to identify and address regulatory risk in operational functions.

Critical Decisions / Recommendations Made in this Job:
Ability to make key decisions with little or no oversight on:
• Product design issues, with impacts to filing, roll-out dates, and potential revenue streams (in excess of $1MM);
• Legal and compliance new business issues, with impacts to process designs and advice to escalated specific issues.
• Interpretation and guidance of Federal and state laws relating to product design, new business and electronic commerce

Management:
• Set team objectives, goals and action plans and manages team to the successful accomplishment
• Manages at least 3 field reviewers
• Creates reports/communications that will be used with Board committees, senior management, and regulators

Key Qualifications and Experience:
• Juris Doctorate degree required
• Minimum of 6 years legal experience, 10 years preferred
• 1 year in the insurance industry preferred
• Product Development and e-commerce knowledge
• Proven experience identifying, developing, and implementing plans to mitigate enterprise compliance risk
• AIRC, FLMI, FINRA preferred
