The Senior University Counsel for Academic Affairs and Business, Research and Academic Transactions (Senior Counsel), performs a senior legal leadership role in the Office of the Vice President and General Counsel of the University, providing—and overseeing—legal services on (a) complex education, research and business transactions, contracting, and collaborations, domestic and international—including associated entity structuring, creation, reorganization, mergers, acquisitions, and governance, (b) exempt entity governance and related law, © academic regulatory and governance matters (e.g., accreditation and federal, state and University regulation of academic affairs, academic freedom and responsibility, faculty and administration shared governance, tenure and promotion, conflicts of interest/outside activities), (d) institutional and individual conflicts of interest in research, technology licensing, and academic and business endeavors, (e) academic and research misconduct, and (f) other transactional, regulatory and miscellaneous matters for the University and its over 27 private tax-exempt affiliates, as needed and assigned. The individual in this position must have a passion for the academic, research and service endeavor of the University.
