The Director, Protecting Ocean Life on the High Seas will develop and lead the implementation of a global campaign to secure agreement at the U.N., by September 2015, to launch negotiations to develop a new international legal instrument enabling the establishment of marine-protected areas and reserves on the high seas. This will include work in capitals around the world and at U.N. missions in New York, NY. The campaign will work closely with other organizations, including playing a core role in the coalition of 30-plus conservation organizations that comprise the High Seas Alliance (HSA), so as to galvanize international support for launching negotiations.
